lauttimur.comTakoyaki is a popular Japanese snack or appetizer that originated in Osaka. It's a ball-shaped snack made with a batter of flour, eggs, dashi (Japanese soup stock), and other ingredients like chopped octopus, green onion, and tenkasu (tempura scraps). The batter is poured into a special takoyaki pan that has half-sphere molds, and the ingredients are cooked until they're crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Takoyaki is typically served hot and topped with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, aonori (dried seaweed flakes), and katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes).

The texture of the takoyaki is a combination of slightly crunchy on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside, with bits of chopped octopus, green onion, and other ingredients mixed into the batter. The flavor of takoyaki is savory and slightly sweet, with a rich umami taste from the dashi and the toppings of takoyaki. Takoyaki is often served in a small paper tray or on a plate and is enjoyed as a snack or appetizer.
